Ralf Schumacher born on June 30th, 1975 in Hurth-Hermulheim near Cologne is a well-known German Formula One driver racing for the Toyota team. He is the younger brother of seven-time World Champion racing icon Michael Schumacher. Throughout his career that spanned eleven years to date Ralf has won 6 Formula 1 races.
Ralf Schumacher married Cora-Caroline Brinkmann in October of 2001 and the couple has a son named David born on October 23rd, 2001.
Like his brother Michael, Ralf too started off karting at the age of three on a track near their hometown of Kerpen. His wonderful racing skills made him finish runner-up in karting series and naturally got promoted to German Formula 3 in 1995 and had to content himself with being runner-up in the series conceding the championship title to Norberto Fontana of Argentina. But his big win came in the Macau street race where he beat Jarno Trulli, his future F1 teammate, and Norberto Fontana, who deprived him the 1995 German Formula 3 championship. Displaying his impressive performance at the 1996 Japanese Formula Nippon series Ralf won the championship title, which earned him a racing berth in the 1997 Formula One with the Jordan team.
Beginning his Formula One debut season in 1997 Ralf Schumacher finished 11th in the Driver's Championship. Constantly improving his racing abilities in each season Ralf over the years has bettered his Driver's Championship positions finishing from 10th in 1998 to 4th in 2001 and retained his 4th position in 2002 season.
For the next two seasons Ralf Schumacher lost his magical touch and he slid back to 5th position in 2003 and then to 9th place in 2004 while his elder brother Michael went to win title after title each year from 2000 to 2004. Slightly improving his performance in 2005 Ralf finished 5th and then again slid back to 10th place in 2006 season.
Ralf Schumacher began his 2007 F1 season on a promising note and halfway through the season he scored two points from his six races. Yet Ralf was "warned to improve or lose his racing seat with the Toyota team" according to the latest news on Staronline dated Friday, the 15th June, 2007.
